Galactic Marshalls, aka Blue Caps

Here's a couple new pics I did for my Sci-Fi story Buddy Nova: Rockabilly Space Cop. This is a couple of members of the Galactic Marshalls, the Inter-Stellar police agency Buddy Nova belongs too. They're also known as The Blue Caps, a slang term used as a proud term of affection by members, as in when Buddy Nova says "There's no pride in the galaxy like the pride of being a Blue Cap." and used in a derogatory manner by criminals as in when Frawg the Bounty Hunter says "Drown in the boggy depths of Frog Hell, Blue Cap." Obviously from my earlier drawing of Buddy, you can tell he takes some liberties with his uniform (they cut him some slack because he's the best), so I thought it'd be nice to see what the official version looks like.

These costumes were inspired by different military and police uniforms of the 1940's and 50's as well as some Sci-Fi costumes of the same era (especially Rocky Jones: Space Ranger who has had a massive impact on Buddy). The term "Blue Cap" is of course a reference to Gene Vincent's band The Blue Caps (one of the great bands of Rockabilly) which in turn was a reference to slang for Navy enlisted men and/or officers (Vincent had served in the Navy)
